Top Chef DC Quiz

Since they decided to pimp the Hilton Washington in the latest episode, let's see if my smart bloggy buds know their history. Without googling, what infamous event happened here?

Drove me crazy that it wasn't mentioned during the show...gotta be the Watergate Hotel. The shape looked soooooooooooo familiar!

I was thinking that some congressman frolicked in a fountain?

OK Debby T, just a hint, NOT the Watergate.

Froggy, what fountain hasn't been frolicked in by a congressman....I'm pretty sure they have to do that before they get to choose their offices.

Well, this is true.
So many scandals to choose from... could be where a certain mayor snorted cocaine, could be any number of affairs, spies from the suburbs, crazed sex poodles...

Looked it up - *not* a scandal. Now I feel sort of cynical.

It's one of those moments when you remember where you were when it happened... I was in my kitchen when we lived in Southern Idaho.

Watergate?

I jumped down to the comments form real quick-like so as to not be swayed, promise.

The only other things I can think of would be the Clarence Thomas hearings (ew) or the Kagan confirmation hearings (ew for a very different reason).

So I'm goin' with Watergate.

What does the winner get? I ask, sticking out my grubby paw...

oh bummer.

NOW I'm gonna google.

Woah! Had no idea that's where it was....

Yes, let me repeat, it's NOT THE WATERGATE. Nor did I say it was a scandal, I said infamous.

We also now know how long folks can go without googling.

Not long.

I don't know for sure (and I didn't google) but I'll throw out there the John Edwards Liason, Navy tailhook party and the RFK assination. Now I'm going to go look it up.

Wrong on all three but one of those was getting close.

where reagan (and jim brady) were shot

Anony. 10:24 got it (as well she should have) right. It was outside this hotel that John Hinckley, Jr attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan. No one was killed but James Brady was most seriously injured and it was the first time in American history that a President survived an assassination attempt.
