Sigh....

Hand puppets and shopping?

These are the challenges the final seven chefs face? Not to mention the absolute worst commercials on tv and I'm not talking about the Elimination Challenge.

This is cross-marketing to a bizarre degree, though my mother-of-young-children self says "woohoo" to the furry monsters. Not that they actually eat...

Yes....they do not eat.....and yet they judged......????

We were wondering if they handed the cookies to their puppeteers and let them taste them. Some of the comments sounded pretty specific.

Thoughts on the quickfire:

1. Blaise said "Elmo is like Elvis in our house." That's just so wrong on many levels.

2. The whole time I'm thinking the puppeteers must be checking out Padma's ass behind the counter.

3. Kevin Gillespie's Target pimped lettuce and tomato comercial was really funny.

4. The cheftestants were actually presenting their dishes - to puppets. Friggin hysterical becuase it had to be so demeaning for them.

5. I wonder if Dale's $5000 was in Target gift cards?

egregious endless shameless marketing. disturbing. thats all it is anymore. wouldnt it be great to have a challenge that was: make whatever you want? maybe have it be a 3 course or something. but these challenges have been too "survivor" like.

forgot to say: what i really like about Carla is she makes food I would actually want to eat! some of the chefs get so exotic with the ingredients its overkill. Carla does...did she call it peasant food?....just the basics prepared with extraordinary care. mmmmmm

Froggy, I think the Muppets would have been a better suited segment for the Musuem epi, not this espisode.

Buzz, I'm touching anything that disses the King. All I know about Elvis is that I don't think there is anyone who can beat him in the Bacon Whore department.
Wouldn't you be checking out Padma's ass? At some point there's got to be some payoff for having your hands up inside a puppet all day.
We will have to agree to disagree on the degree of funny of Kevin and Padma's commercials. You say really funny, I say turn away from the tv painful to watch.
Didn't a past contestant win a Macy's gift card? Who was that?

Chickory, yes just a big fat stinking commercial for a lot of chinese products. They should have made it even harder, you can only use products and appliances made in America.

Yes, yes and yes about Carla. I don't know if she is going to win, I certainly hope she does but they seem to be heading for a Dale Top Chef season finale.

Really?!? Elmo and Cookie Monster.

Well, you already know how much I hated that entire episode. But I'm willing to state publicly that I am PISSED about that hot bag of ass they served us last night. Waste of talent and my time.

Big Shamu said...

Yes Dani, the Quickfire was to make a cookies for Cookie Monster, Elmo and third muppet I didn't recognize. Perhaps this would have worked better on Just Desserts.

Yes, Syd, I'm not sure they did Target any favors by saying, Look,we're here at Target and all we can cook is soup and grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron. Doesn't really make me want to shop for quality produce and proteins at that store.

I thought the chefs handled the challenges with a good sense of grace and a let's-do-it spirit. I would have liked to see their talents put to better use than pimping Target and feeding puppets.

Really, I think Dale totally deserved the win, he got the point of Target, which is to outfit your dorm room and help you feed yourself when you get drunk.

I wanted to hear more from Ming Tsai, who I adore. I can't believe they just had him sit there and eat Target food. The guy's creative brain is too hoppin' for that...

I agree with you on the Target part... But I have to strongly disagree about the Muppets. I thought the quickfire was utterly delightful.

I mean, come on! Cookie Monster heckling Dale and Richard, the two biggest asshats on Top Chef! It was GLORIOUS.

Noxy has a point. Though I see your Dale and raise you a Mike Isabella.
