How did the heritage turkey come out?

Hope you had a great one, Sham! I got off easy this Turkey Day by only having to make two sides, mashed potatoes laden with buttah and cream and farm fresh green beans with a sherry mushroom sauce! Having the inlaws in town canceled out the "getting off easy" part of dinner.

Dani, while I have no pictures it's still as delicious as last year. I nibbled at bits of it yesterday. Made a huge amount of stock from the carcass and also made the best flavored gravy I've made in a long time. Might have some pictures up tomorrow but I spent yesterday doing nothing but cooking. And cleaning.

Still waiting for you to have a Thanksgiving where no food ends up on the floor.

La Diva, so glad you had a nice relaxed time cooking-wise. I remember last year you were sick which is never fun for the holidays. As long as the in-laws aren't moving in I think you'll be ok.

Is your chef holding a pumpkin pie...or an empty turkey platter? Like you I spent yesterday cooking and will be spending today cleaning. Someone (the Mrs' side ofthe family) spilled wine on the kitchen floor. What a sticky mess that was. And the sweet potatoes that needed a quick warm up in the oven (my side of the family) leaked and smoked out the kitchen and den. Fun memories - not.

Oh man Buzz, that burned sweet potato smell is a hard one to purge from the nostrils. While I didn't have any burned food disasters my knees are quite unhappy with yesterday's long hours standing at the stove. As for my little rosy cheeked chef, I going with a large oval pumpkin pie.

Yes it was although not as many people around as last year which means more leftovers for me.

Sounds like you had a wonderful dinner! I haven't been in charge of Thanksgiving for years, which means I'm always assigned a side or a dessert. This year, I went Old School and did a green bean casserole with fried onions. Amazing just how good it actually is.

I made fish, but the turkey was grilled on the BBQ... came out dry and NO gravy. Near rioting when the word got out (I wasn't in charge of the turkey.)

Your co-workers are super lucky people. Did you get the same turkey as last year? Fedex?
