Top Chef Season 6

Season 6 premiered tonight. Did you watch? What did you think? For me, like the very busy picture above, 17 chefs are way too many. Having seen the improvement made on the series with Top Chef Masters, it's a bit hard to go back to the grind of the Glad Stew Room, repetitive living quarters chatter, and stunt casting of brother chefs. Everyone ready for the very long haul of Season 6?

We will dig in and forge forward! Seems to have several intense characters.

I was there and this combined with 16 designers for Project Runway is messing with my brain.

Not sure if I want to see more Vegas Showgirls in the kitchen, but it IS VEGAS.

La Diva wants to know where they enlisted this motley crew of chefs? There were sporting more tats and piercings than the Jim Rose Circus! Not a pretty bunch to say the least and La Diva would not want to meet any of them in a dark alley!

There is the big mumbling Haitian that doesn't know what a vice is! (and since when is it a vice to "complicate things?" Some people didn't know what a vice was, obviously.)

And the swarthy Puerto Rican actually looks like the straightest of the bunch! And what about the little French boy that looks like a Tintin wanna-be with his jaunty rouge scarf and quiff!

Glad the chica with the uber-tats and horribly huge ear rings is gone, I don't think I could look at her ears stretched like that the entire season!

I always hate the first 6 episodes, too many people, too much bangbang editing. Maybe tats are the new asshat?

Both winners, Drunk Chick and Beard Guy, appear to have a lot of talent. I'm hoping a new villian will emerge because the one Bravo designated-as-villian was pretty boring. Maybe a Betty will emerge.

I'd nominate "cooking with balls" as Season Catch-Phrase except I don't think Big Dumb Puerto Rican guy will last much longer.

I kinda like Hector but deep frying a steak last night for Wolfgang Puck to trying to achieve smoke? Perhaps something was lost in the translation.

I didn't even realize the premier was yesterday. That's how out of touch I am with TCS6. I'm sure I'll pick up a rerun this week. As a side note - Amuse Biatch has started blogging again and they're all over the scary tattoo lady.

Which scary tattoo lady? There's a number of them that would fit that description!!

Hector: cute but WTF for frying a steak? You don't make freakin' chicharrones from a nice steak. That's what pork and chicken skin is for....

What La Diva said. Since when has a sneer and a tat become de rigeur for a chef? I'm. Over. IT.

The only highlight? BACON DONUTS. Mmmmmmm . . . And pretty pee your pants funny when Puck tossed 'em!
