Mapril - Day Five

Susan of 29 Black Street gently reminded me that we bloggers of a certain age need to eat more heart healthy. Seeing that Day Three of Mapril didn't exactly fall into that category, I found a nice healthy breakfast alternative. Maple Yogurt Parfait.

Maple Yogurt Parfait

Greek yogurt (in this case, non-fat) flavored with maple syrup, layered with granola, strawberries and blackberries. Remember the maple spiced nuts from Day Four? Cut them up and tossed them in with the granola. Enjoy!

And it's so good for you...unless you have a thing against dairy.

hmmmmm - that's my breakfast, blueberries for strawberries and I use honey. I think I'll try maple syrup.

Very adaptable. Frozen fruit also works. Plus when you add your own sweet flavor to the yogurt, you can control the amount of sweetness.

...or you can eat it for dinner....

No, DINNER MUST HAVE ONIONS.

OK our version, listing layers up from the bottom:

Strawberry flavored yogurt
granola
one large frozen strawberry
plain yogurt
real maple syrup
granola
one small frozen strawberry

The sound of silence, slurping, and crunching is deafening. Gracious, this is a popular one!!!

My kids are going through a growth spurt I guess, they want to eat all the time. This goes into the snack rotation. Thank you!

Susan, regarding the links, I don't think Blogger allows folks to do clickable links in comments. However, if you subscribe to the comments, then when a comment appears in your email it will have a clickable link. So - I can't click on your link here but I can in my email.

Hope that helps - now off to see about how to make granola...
