This Sunday's Dim Sum brought out the tropical in me. I chose a variety fruit for my grill, mangoes, bananas and some peaches thrown in for good measure. I made sure I picked under ripe fruit that would aid in the grilling process. The peaches were dressed with some balsamic vinegar while the mangoes were drizzled with pineapple juices. They came out beautifully. But what to pair this beautiful fruit with? After a little research I decided on black sticky rice.
While the sweet coconut milk makes the rice sticky it leaves the rice's nuttiness and crunch intact. The sweetness also contrasts the fruits smokiness. Although the next time I make this I might add a shaving of toasted coconut to the top. This is a wonderful summer dessert that I will certainly be adding to my recipe stash.

I was inspired by Chickory's quick creamy tuna with vegetables. Enjoyed on a bed of buttery egg noodles and I'm now enjoying a big bowl of vanilla ice cream topped with sliced local strawberries. Yummmm - pas de photos I'm afraid.
Your grilled fruit and coconut sticky rice looks and sounds amazing.
OMG, I love this dessert! YUM! I love rice desserts and can't remember the last time I had black rice. I'm afraid I didn't have any fruit to grill, trying to eat out of the pantry until pay day!
I did manage to make something today along the lines of your dish though: Indonesia's shaved ice treat inspired me.

I wanna try this recipe! It sounds like a perfect summer dish. Great cooking Shamu!
OMG that's insane. Talk about food porn. Who needs Bravo, Shamu darlin'!? Grilled MANGOES? Oh lordy the way to a woman's heart... hope you enjoyed every bite. Yum.
I love the pink Hibiscus in the background. It goes so well with the yummy food in the shell.
I think grilled fruit is so underated. The whole mango sticky rice thing you did really looks good. I like tht you served it in a scallop shell.
With any luck I will have a post either late tonight or tomorrow. I have some fruit marinating since last night in the fridge. We'll see.
Can't wait to see it Buzz.
Yes, I wanted to say how much I like the photography too. very nice shamu!!
