It ain't RC and a Moon Pie...

While the Big Shamu doesn't drink alcoholic beverages, she does enjoy the caffeinated sweetness that is soda pop. You can count her in the Pepsi camp unless someone happens to offer up the best soda experience in the world - the "Tiny Real Glass Bottle of Coke". Just the right serving size and when served icy cold, it's lip smacking good.

But the soda world isn't made up of just Coke and Pepsi products. There's a whole smorgasbord of international fizziness out there and Big Shamu wants in.How could you not want a Thums Up? This little gem can be found in India.Look again at the can folks. Jamaican Irish Moss Banana Drink. I'm guessing this one is usually consumed after 4:20...Korean kids have it so cool - they can choose from, among others, a Hamni Blue Hawaii soft drink that is not only a tongue staining shade of blue; there's also a free toy in the cap!And what if you're not feeling like a Blue Hawaii? Well, how about an Assi brand "Sac Sac Grape" soda? Mmmm...Assi Sac Sac!!This Guatemalan offering sounds a wee dirty with it's Tiky PiƱa hanging out.And I don't care how this one tastes...I just love the moniker - "Chubby Bubblegum". New porn name anyone? You didn't think I'd forget a little something for the Java Junkie, did you? Coffee soda. And the added bonus? It's Italian!.

Shamu - Something you might want to try. When my family and I were in Germany a few years back, my kids loved this local drink called Spetzi. Its a 50/50 mix of coke and lemonade. As far as I know its not bottled anywhere (and the kids liked it so much I looked for it when we got back to the US), it gets made at whatever eating establishment you happen to be at - and everyone had it on the menu. Its a nice summer drink.

It's Fresca all the way por Moi, baby.

Thanks Buzz Kill, will have to experiment with that.

Moi, so what's the major appeal of Fresca? What makes it Sponge-worthy?

I once went into a diabetic coma by walking through the "hispanic foods" section at Publix. The soft drinks are like syrup only more sugary and viscous.

Oh, let me count the ways: Grapefruit, lemon, lime, fizzy fizz fizz, thirst quenching, zero calories, and zero yucky "diet" after taste. And, although I've never tired it myself, I hear it makes a mean drink mix.

No diet after taste? I'll try it.

One of the first things I had to get used to here in Lilliput was the unusual soft drinks and some of their names.

Mets Grapfruit soda - awesome

Post water-aptly named- It's what I imagine piss would taste like.

Search out Manhattan Special. If they still make it you will absolutely love it!
