Eating at the Abbey

OK this is just an excuse to post a pretty picture of some of the lovely ladies of Downton Abbey but there's a fascinating piece over at NPR about the complexity of food before and after two world wars in Great Britain.

Plus I might even watch one episode of Top Chef again if it could be arranged to have the Dowager Countess could put the smack down on Chef Tom.

LOVE DOWNTON ABBEY.

Maggie Smith rocks.

I love the cook and scullery maid on that show. Lots of gruff sweetness there.

That is all.

Interesting NPR piece.
We spent two months in England in the early 80s. We were camping so no fine dining. Favorites - scotch eggs from the shops and tea in the train station.

I'd eat a scotch egg for breakfast. I don't get why that item never caught on here in the US of A. Maybe if we stuck it on a stick?
