My Sushi Wants to Live Here

Sushi has been a favorite dinner choice of mine for many years. I love the simplicity, the freshness of the ingredients, the wide variety of choices. I especially love the beauty of sushi. I like to think of sushi as beautiful little jewels of food. You don't need much fancy dinnerware to eat sushi. A plate, chopsticks, a bowl for your soy sauce and you're set. That why I adore this bamboo tray from Domestic Aesthetic. It is elegant in it's simplicity. I would gladly rest my chopsticks on this tray.

This?
No, I don't think you'll see me trying the Nyotaimori anytime soon.

Nyotaimori is really common here. Especially during the holiday season. It only costs a little more to have a nyo "girl" pose for your dining pleasure. sometimes the kids do silly things with their chopsticks, but no one ever seems to complain.
Personally I think nyotaimori is the best way to eat fish.

Exactly what does it add to the experience of eating sushi?

I agree. Sushi should be served on individual chilled plates, not family or buffet or nekkid woman style. Her body heat is going to affect the flavors. And it's almost inevitable that some grubby hand will touch something I wind up eating. Not to mention no sneeze-guard.

My Mother was a nurse and taught us about germs, etc.

That's all I'm gonna say.

Here's where I pull my feminist freak flag out of the closet. What woman, hell, what PERSON, with any self respect would make themselves available for public "consumption" in that manner? To me, that's not sexy. It's just kinda sad and dumb.

Might want to watch the Sushi, an actor whom I never heard of before was in the news with a high level of mercury in his blood - most likely from consuming lots of sushi.

I prefer shishimi (I find the taste of the nori a little overwhelming), but I hold it to a dull roar. It is sad that we, as a society, have ruined the one thing that could be very good for us.

umm....I think you need to learn something before posting.
That answer is worse than Gene's(from Hawaii no less) answer on Top Chef when he was asked about what's the difference between the two.

1. Sushi IS just raw/sometimes cooked seafood, quail egg, sweet tamago(cooked chicken egg omlette) or vegetables on top/inside of rice with or without seaweed.

2. If you take that seaweed away, it's called sashimi, not shishimi. Shishimi is a japanese chili pepper.

That actor had a high mercury level because he was probably eating a TON of tuna(especially bluefin) in his sushi/sashimi meals, which is really high in mercury as well as other fish used for sushi-several kinds of mackerel, tilefish(rare to find here in LA), some Yellowtail that are high in mercury. There are several other fish that are high in mercury, but you don't see them too much on menus here.

But, yes...it's sad that the environment is full of toxins that ruins such a beautiful thing.

Love the tray and the idea behind it. Where in the heck can I buy it?

hah, now I got retarded from replying to The Phosgene Kid's post.

What I deleted was:
