No Food Weekend

I'm sorry to report that this was a No Food weekend. No cooking, barely any eating unless you count a Five Hour Energy drink. I pulled a Dog Adoption Mission road trip. Ten hours one way to a little town in Kentucky to pick up this guy.

Smokey

Smokey...then

Traveling Dog

...Jackson now.

Action Jackson as it turns out. Ridding the world of evil squirrels and no fence or gate will stop him. He's a good boy but we will be in serious training mode for the next few months because counter surfing in the kitchen is a NO GO!

  1. Welcome to Jackson!
Tar knows the temptation of counter surfing. Jackson is a lucky boy.

  2. Maybe if I make squirrel stew he won't want to jump the fence?

  3. Jackson would agree, I'm just not ready for a constant diet of squirrel sushi.

  9. We think he's at least two. He's probably a little under weight which is scary because he's already bigger tha Jake was.

  12. Heyyyyyyy - good news. What a face!

this is why I like small dogs - they can reach counter tops.

  13. Lucky dog that Jackson !!

& what k9 said - Missy D was a terrible fence jumper until she began to realize she had nothing to run away from anymore. Just a few months and she happily stayed inside the fence in her new happy home. xo Us

  15. K-9, I know you've had your issues with Trout but I don't think it's an issue was wanting to escape a bad situation, I think it's more of a guy dog wanting to do what guy dogs love to do, chase lady hounds and hunt for furry varmints. He's only been neutered for a couple of weeks after two years of intact guy dog joy. The squirrel/rabbit thing is more self control. He doesn't get that he can get all the rabbits and squirrels he wants as long as he stays in the boundaries but we're working on it.

Yes, Boxer, there are advantages to small dogs. No counter surfing and the ability to mimic carry-on luggage. Still there's nothing like a sense of security a big dog gives.

Susan, I think Miss D. was looking a for a little crab crunching adventure.

Thanks Kathie, someone else's mistake (throwing away a good dog) is my gain.

  16. Wow. What a beautiful dog. German Shepherd and . . . ?

At any rate, congrats! May the two of you enjoy many wonderful days together keeping squirrels out of the yard!

  17. Belgian Malonois, American version (not European bred). Very smart. I'm scared to leave him alone in the kitchen for fear that opening the refrigerator door would be much too easy a challenge to get to the good stuff. The squirrels have had it pretty dang good for the spring and summer. THOSE days are OVER!

  18. Train him to take down a deer, and we will dog sit for you when you go out of town! What a handsome boy.
