Top Chef Tattoo Tuesday

I guess it's safe to assume this person is not a vegetarian?

  1. Yeah, safe assumption. I may want to become one after seeing that tattoo. I'll think about it once I make the red curry chicken later this week. Heh.

  2. Cool. Reminds me of the old sailor tats that folks used to get.

  3. I'm so OVER tattoos. Used to be for carnies, sailors and the "alternative" lifestyle peeps and now it's SO mainstream that every 15-year-old suburban girl has a tramp stamp and a belly ring. blech.

Seven years ago when hubby and I first moved to L.A. from Sydney, I talked him out of getting a "Felix the cat" on his forearm. He thanked me again for dissuading him just the other day.

  4. Yeah I've never been too big on permanent things inked onto my body. Or self inflicted pain. Or drawing excessive attention to myself. I'm ok with that. More power to those who go whole hog with the tats. There will be many more to come.

  5. When I first started dating my hubby, he bought me a henna tattoo for my hand. When I got home I scrubbed it off, it felt dirty and "busy" and in a weird way, claustrophobic!!!! YIKES!

I've been told I have nice skin, why mess it all up?!

  6. All you have to do is look at some of the old Navy Chief Petty Officers and their Japanese and Filipino ink - 40 years later - to put you off of tattoos. They turn into big splotches that look like a skin disease. Accept for commorative tats (to remember a campaign, fallen buddy, service or fallen buddy) they'll tell you they wish they didn't have them.
I would also lump in those ear flesh tunnels. Navy guys don't get those so we'll have to wait 30 - 40 years for this generation to age to see what happens to their ears. Glad I won't be around to see that.

  7. I don't think we've had any ear tunnel chefs yet, I think the closest we've seen is Jesse's lip bangle. I'm sure ear tunnels are coming. (shiver)

How much is an average tat?

  8. I respectfully beg to differ. Remember that Mexican chick with those horrible ear lobes? ick.

Jennifer Zavala: Oooh, I'm SOOO tribal!

  9. Dang, she comes in just under the wire of one episode and didn't even unpack. Still she beat the chick from the NY Season who was auffed before even getting to the wear a Top Chef jacket. I think she had to get back on the ferry.
